Ribbon Cutting: Northside Legacy Center

Join us in celebrating a meaningful new chapter of community, connection, and legacy at the ribbon cutting for Northside Legacy Center on Friday, May 8, from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM, with remarks beginning at 2:45 PM. Located at 1305 N 5th St, Niles, this new gathering space is co-founded by Georgia Boggs and her granddaughter D'Lana Lark Person, and represents generations of dedication to the Northside community.

After more than 30 years of service—through city leadership, neighborhood advocacy, and deep community involvement—Georgia Boggs’ legacy continues in partnership with her granddaughter through a space designed to bring people together. The Northside Legacy Center offers a welcoming environment for up to 64 guests and will host a variety of events including graduations, birthday celebrations, baby showers, repasts, workshops, and community gatherings.

The building itself holds a rich history, once home to D’Lana’s Ice Cream and later other local businesses, before sitting vacant and now being thoughtfully restored. Today, it stands as a full-circle moment—honoring the past while creating space for future memories.

Community members, partners, and media are invited to attend, tour the space, meet the founders, and celebrate a place intentionally created for life’s most meaningful moments. Light refreshments will be served during the event.
