Chamber Buzz: Fernwood Botanical Garden & Big Brother Big Sisters

The Chamber Buzz presented by Everwise Credit Union is a free monthly breakfast for members that will feature updates from elected officials, community leaders, new chamber members, and special guests. The series is hosted by Gallery 1245 located at 1245 S. 11th Street in Niles at 8:30am on the first Wednesday of the month from February through November. It's a one-stop-shop event for members where they can learn about everything coming up in the community. This month the featured presentations are from the Fernwood Botanical Garden and Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS.) 

Elaine Rowland is the Director of Marketing for Fernwood Botanical Garden. Fernwood comprises 105 acres and protects at least 10 ecosystems. Visitors may enjoy natural areas with miles of walking and hiking trails, a reconstructed prairie, an arboretum, and cultivated public gardens that include an herb garden, Japanese garden, perennial border, rain garden, railway garden, nature adventure garden, hardy fern collection, and other special collections and gardens. 

Joel DeMott is the CEO for Big Brothers Big Sisters - Southern Lake Michigan Region. BBBS creates and supports one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. By partnering with parents/guardians, volunteers, and others in the community we are accountable for each child in our program achieving higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships. BBBS serves children across 7 Indiana counties and 3 Michigan counties.
